Connecting a Google Workspace account to ToastMail with Less Secure Apps

Important Note: As of this writing, accounts no longer support Less Secure Apps. They are still supported for Google Workspace but will eventually be phased out. This date is yet to be announced. We recommend for you to connect a Google Account to ToastMail via 2-Step Verification. Connecting to Less Secure Apps involves a few steps. Here’s how:

Step 1: Enable less secure apps on your Google Workspace account

Login to your Google Workspace account and go to
Ensure you are signed in to the right account before turning on Less Secure Apps.
Check your Gmail inbox for a Security Alert email. Select It was me to verify the action was made by you.

Step 2: Enable imap in your mailbox

Open your Gmail inbox and click on the Settings icon at the top right then select See all settings.
Go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab. Scroll down a bit and click on Enable IMAP. Make sure to save the changes.

Step 3: Sign in to toastmail

Navigate back to ToastMail and log in to your account.
Follow the steps to add your email address.

Should you encounter issues connecting your account, try the following solutions.

Scenario 1: Cannot enable Less Secure Apps:

If you have Two-Step Verification enabled in your account, you cannot activate Less Secure Apps. You will need to turn off Two-Step Verification in your Google Settings

Click on your Avatar and select Manage your Google Account.
Select Security in the navigation panel and under Signing in to Google toggle off 2-step verification and save it
Proceed to Step 1 above.

If Two-Step Verification is disabled and you still cannot enable Less Secure Apps, the option may be disabled by your Google Account Admin.

You (if you have Admin access) or your Admin should sign in as Administrator of the Workspace
Go to
Select Allow users to manage their access to less secure apps and hit Save
Proceed to Step 1 above.

Scenario 2: Less Secure Apps enabled but still cannot connect to ToastMail

If Two-Step Verification is disabled and you still cannot enable Less Secure Apps, the option may be disabled by your Google Account Admin.This may happen if Google triggers security alerts eventually blocking the process.

Check for security alert emails in your Gmail inbox.
If you received any, confirm that it was indeed you
Repeat Step 1 to verify Less Secure Apps are activated.
