Connecting a Google Account to ToastMail

Step 1:

Activate 2-Step Verification in your Google account

Make sure that you are signed in to your Google Account, then click Manage your Google Account. Or, manually navigate there once you have signed in by clicking on the Avatar in the top right corner, and then by clicking on Manage your Google account under your avatar.

Next, locate the search field at the top of your screen and type in ‘2 step’, click on 2-Step Verification then select Get Started. Proceed with the on-screen instructions.

#Step 2:

Enable IMAP in your mailbox

Next, click Forwarding and POP/IMAP, which should take you to the correct settings page. Or, manually navigate to your Gmail inbox and go to Settings by clicking the wheel icon on the top right corner of your screen, click See all settings and then click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

Scroll down a bit and then select Enable IMAP. Remember to save your changes.

Navigate to your Gmail Settings and enable IMAP.

Step 3:

Set up an App Password and Sign In to Toastmail

Return to the Manage your Google Account page. In the search field at the top of your screen type in ‘App Passwords’. Click on App Passwords.

Locate Search field, search 'app pass' and click App Passwords.

In the Select App dropdown choose Other and label the password as ToastMail, TM, or any other name that allows you to remember that this app password is connected to ToastMail.

Select App, Choose Other and give it name that allows you to remember that this App Password is connected to ToastMail.

Clicking on Generate will generate a unique App Password. Copy your generated app password. You will need this to connect your email to ToastMail.

**Sign in to Toastmail** and click on Add Email. Fill in required fields i.e. email address, Sender Name and then paste in the App Password.

TROUBLESHOOTING - Should you encounter issues connecting your account, try the following solutions.

Scenario 1: The option to turn on 2-Step Verification is unavailable:

The ability to turn on 2-Step Verification must be enabled by a Google Workspace Administrator.
If you have Administrator privileges, log in to Google then navigate to
Alternatively, you can look up “2-Step Verification” in the Google search bar.
Check the box that allows users to turn on 2-Step Verification.

Scenario 2: Cannot locate the App Passwords:

Verify that you have enabled the 2-Step Verification under the Security tab of your Google Account settings.
In the search bar, type in “App Passwords” to access the said page. Proceed to STEP 3 to complete the process.

Scenario 3: Failed to connect even after enabling the 2-Step Verification:

Ensure that you are using the App Password generated from STEP 3 and NOT your regular GMail password.
Confirm that you went through the step-by-step instructions through the correct GMail account and not a different one.
Verify that you have copied and pasted the correct App Password.
